Have a movie or series idea? Mystic Film Institute is delighted to announce a series of intensive screenwriting workshops led by Oscar-nominated screenwriter, Janet Roach. Whether you’re a seasoned writer or just starting out, each two-day workshop offers valuable insights and practical guidance to enhance your craft.

Attend a stand-alone session or dive into the full experience by joining all three workshops. No previous session attendance or experience level required for registration, but some pre-work is required before classes commence. Details will be shared after registration.

About The Instructor

Janet Roach, a Connecticut native, boasts a stellar career that spans journalism and the cinematic world. A former CBS News contributor, Roach earned acclaim for her impactful work, including an Emmy-winning piece on refugee camps in Southeast Asia. In the early ’80s, Roach’s journey led her to legendary director John Huston, marking her transition into screenwriting. Her first screenplay, “Prizzi’s Honor,” garnered an Oscar nomination, setting the stage for a prolific career. Roach’s subsequent projects, like “The First Wives Club” and “The Three Stooges,” solidified her reputation as a sought-after screenwriter.

Beyond accolades, Roach dedicated two decades to shaping the next generation of filmmakers as a professor at Columbia University. Now, she brings her wealth of experience back to Connecticut, offering screenwriting workshops with the Mystic Film Institute.
